And we're away! 🛫
Yesterday saw the successful take-off of Wing Threads: Flight Around Oz for the first flight leg from White Gum Farm to Bunbury 🥳🤩
Many thanks to Trevor Morgan who sponsored this first flight leg of the trip 👏👏👏
After a short delay due to low cloud in the morning, I was finally able to get going around 10am. The entire flight took 2 hours and 20 minutes and I arrived in Bunbury at 12.20pm.
I livestreamed the first part of the flight but unfortunately, lost reception when I went over the hills from Boddington mine to Wahroona.
Thank you to everyone who joined me for the livestream. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces in the comments and know that you were all there flying with me in the backseat of the microlight! 🥰
In case you missed it, you can watch the replay of the livestream on YouTube!
Arriving in Bunbury
When I arrived at Bunbury, I was greeted by Kez who got a great video of me landing and escorted me to the hangar. I was pretty cold by the time I arrived so greatly appreciated the warm cuppa that came next!
Mary from White Gum Air Park arrived soon after with my car and then fellow pilot, Will Owen, flew Mary back home in his Faeta – as you do! It only took Will and Mary an hour to get back in the Faeta compared to the drive which took Mary almost 4 hours! 😅
Many thanks to Kez, Mary, Andrew, Will and the Bunbury Aero Club for all your support yesterday.
In more exciting news, Wing Threads also made it onto 10 News First Perth last night! I was contacted by reporters just before the flight and asked if a friend could take some video of the take-off for them (thanks Andrew Cotterel!). You can watch the video by clicking the image below.
I’m now looking forward to spending the next week or so in Bunbury and beginning the first of the school visits next week to share my new children’s book, A Shorebird Flying Adventure, with everyone! Thanks to everyone who has reached out to wish me well through email, text and on social media. Apologies if I haven’t gotten around to replying. Please know I’ve read your messages and they’re warmly received 🥰 |
